Engage Life, a corporate wellness solution provider, has formed a strategic partnership with Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to launch a nationwide wellness movement, Growing Well Together (GWT).
The initiative leverages corporate influence to enhance the well-being of communities at scale, positioning large organisations as “wellness sponsors” within the communities they serve to drive a societal shift.
The partnership aims to address the growing concerns of obesity and diabetes in Malaysia by providing comprehensive healthcare solutions and fostering a healthier lifestyle among Malaysians.
The firms, leveraging Engage Life’s expertise in corporate wellness and SJMC’s capabilities as a tertiary hospital, have joined forces to create a comprehensive wellness programme.
GWT is aimed at supporting individuals and organisations on their wellness journey, while specifically preventing and managing these chronic diseases.
A cornerstone of the movement is a 30-day in-app kick-off programme, providing participants with guidance, tracker and assessment features, and a supportive community to improve their health.
Accessible through the Engage Life app, the programme focuses on weight management as well as nutrition and physical activity, with the goal of fostering lasting behaviour change.
To encourage and reward participants, the programme offers savings from partners such as Beacon Mart, SJMC, JBL, Brooks and more.
Participants who complete the programme will receive a certificate of participation, recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records, along with a chance to win up to RM10,000 in rewards and prizes.
Additionally, they stand a chance to enjoy a 3-day/2-night getaway to Cherating Club Med, Desaru Coast or Beacon Resort.
Engage Life chief executive officer and founder Paresh Subramaniyam said, “Having witnessed firsthand the impact of health struggles on individuals’ lives, we are deeply committed to creating a healthier Malaysia.
“Our partnership with Subang Jaya Medical Centre to launch the Growing Well Together movement is a major milestone in our mission. By combining our expertise and resources, we aim to empower individuals and organisations to prioritise well-being and drive lasting positive change.”
SJMC chief executive officer Bryan Lin echoed these sentiments. “I believe that this partnership will add value to our hospital and patients. Beyond disease management, healthcare is about helping our patients get back to their lives.
“This collaboration aligns with our commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of our community, where healthy habits and screenings are essential. We look forward to creating a comprehensive approach to address the pressing health challenges facing Malaysia and together build a healthier nation for generations to come.”
SJMC set the GWT programme in motion by pledging 50 passes as part of its efforts to promote positive health and well-being within its organisation.
As one of Engage Life’s wellness sponsors, the hospital is moving towards taking a more holistic approach where their employees are empowered to take charge of their health.
