Dr. Ivan Tham Weng Keong

Senior Consultant


Dr Ivan Tham is a Senior Consultant, Radiation Oncologist at Parkway Cancer Centre. He has special interest in head and neck cancers, lung cancers and general radiation oncology. Dr Tham has experience with a variety of treatment techniques. These include stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) or stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), 3D conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) and brachytherapy.

Dr Tham graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2000. He started his training in Radiotherapy in 2006. He completed his fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologist in 2009. Dr Tham has also received the certification of Full Medical & Specialist Registration (Radiation Oncology). He is also a recognized Specialist in Radiation Oncology in Australian Medical Council and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Dr Tham was previously the Head of Department and Senior Consultant at the National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, as well as Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore. He received training in clinical and radiation oncology at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, UK.

Dr Tham currently serves in the Residency Advisory Committee (Radiation Oncology). He was also engaged in various other committees in the Ministry of Health previously, such as the Proton Beam Therapy Advisory Committee and a National Advisory Committee on Cancer subcommittee. Dr Tham served as Vice-President of the Federation of Asian Organizations for Radiation Oncology from 2017 to 2018.

Dr Tham has an active interest in clinical research in cancer, and has co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles on clinical oncology, radiation oncology and imaging. His articles have been cited by other scientists more than 1500 times. He has been involved in teaching both locally and overseas, and has given lectures in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam and Japan. He has also contributed to more than 5 textbook chapters in oncology.
