Dr Sharifah is the Founder and Past President of Perak Women for Women Society (PWW). Perak Women for Women Society (PWW) is a registered, apolitical, non-profitable and non-governmental organisation (NGO) set up in 2003 to enhance the status and lives of women in Perak irrespective of their race, religion and social background. PWW helps women and children in crisis who are victims of abuse, violence and discrimination.

Dr Sharifah is a strong believer of evidence based medical practice. To Dr Sharifah, all recommendations of treatment and care of patient must be justified by good medical evidence. Dr Sharifah is a researcher herself especially in Cochrane systematic review. Dr Sharifah has authored many publications in the area of pregnancy and childbirth with the prestigious world research database, the Cochrane Collaboration. Dr Sharifah is familiar and highly skilled in performing core procedures in obstetrics & gynaecology field. Other than core procedures, Dr Sharifah’s special focus and skills is in advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for all non-gynaecologic tumours. Dr Sharifah strongly believe no woman should have a big scar in the abdomen for gynaecological reason unless a malignancy. She believes laparoscopic should be the first line treatment should a woman require a surgery for gynaecological indication. Since she joined Regency Specialist Hospital in 2014, Dr Sharifah has performed advanced laparoscopicgynae surgery of various indications as the following: Total laparoscopic hysterectomy – 550 cases Laparoscopic myomectomy – 280 cases Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy and oophorectomy – 420 cases Laparoscopic salphigectomy – 180 cases Vaginal hysterectomy – 120 cases Hysteroscopy – 250 cases   

Other than writing research and publication, Dr Sharifah is one of the active women’s health educators for the paramedical groups and the public. She has delivered many lectures related to women health issues at public forum and seminars across the Perak States.
