Upon graduation from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1993, Dr Yen served in various government hospitals
in Sabah and Kedah before obtaining her Masters of Ophthalmology from UKM in 2002.
She spent a large amount of time serving at the Ophthalmology Dept in Hospital Selayang, Kuala
Lumpur, which was at that time the referral centre for the entire country. This enabled her to gain a
wide exposure in various subspecialties, such as vitreo retinal, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, and
oculoplasty.
She then continued to head the Ophthalmology Unit in Hospital Ampang in 2006, while also serving as a
surgeon in Hospital Kuala Lumpur, before joining Optimax as a consultant ophthalmologist.
Dr Yen brings to Optimax her years of clinical and surgical experience. She is highly proficient in multiple
laser refractive surgery techniques, such as phaco-emulsification (for cataracts), and ICLs (Implantable
Contact Lenses), pediatric eye care, and other common eye diseases. Her warm and caring personality
has made her a huge favorite amongst patients.
Dr Yen is currently based at the Optimax Eye Specialist Centre in Klang and visits Shah Alam.
