Dr Edwin Ooi Inn Loon graduated from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) with a Medical Doctor Degree (MD) in 2006.
He worked in various medical departments during houseman ship, and was serving in Emergency department during his medical-officer years, before finally ending up in the Ophthalmology Department in Hospital Bukit Mertajam (Penang). He completed his postgraduate master training in ophthalmology and qualified with Master of Ophthalmology (M.S Opthal) from National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2015. He is a gazetted eye specialist by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and is registered under the National Specialist Register of Malaysia (NSR).

Prior to joining OPTIMAX, Dr Edwin Ooi had served in the Ophthalmology Department of Hospital Bukit Mertajam, Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM), Hospital Ampang and Sarawak General Hospital.

He served in Sarawak General Hospital for 2 years (2016-2018) and actively involved in mobile cataract camp where he did multiple challenging cataract surgeries in various district regions of Sarawak.
He is also a Certified Medical Impairment Assessor (CMIA).
Dr Edwin Ooi has special interests in cataract, pterygium and Lasik surgeries.
For cataract surgeries, he is attentively involved in the usage of premium intraocular lenses.

In addition, he provides a wide range of comprehensive eye care such as dry eyes management, glaucoma medical therapy, paedriatic eye care, laser therapy in diabetic retinopathy, intravitreal injections for macular-related problems and diabetic macular edema etc.
He actively participates in local and oversea ophthalmology conferences to cater the safest surgical techniques and the most effective management of ophthalmic disorders.

Dr Edwin Ooi has an interest in reading and is an active marathon runner. Also, he is a lovely husband and a father to one wonderful child.
Dr. Edwin is currently based at the Optimax Eye Specialist Hospital in Penang.
