Lab-based tracking technology helps users make healthy diet and lifestyle choices
A new device may be able to help us determine what is going on with our bodies in the comfort of our homes.
Cue, developed by a US company of the same name, allows people to see how their diet and lifestyle habits are affecting their bodies at the molecular level.
Akin to a miniaturised medical lab, Cue uses a tiny microfluidics array and a range of different sensors to analyse how your health fares in five different molecular aspects – vitamin D levels, inflammation, influenza, testosterone, and even fertility.
Users simply collect a tiny sample of saliva, blood or nasal fluid with the included sample wand and slide it into the special single-use cartridges. In a few minutes, the device analyses the sample and transmits easy-to-understand data to your smartphone’s app via Bluetooth.
The app can also extract activity and the sleep data from your smartphone and compare the information with your molecular data to provide health recommendations. For instance, if your testosterone levels are found to be low, the app will recommend foods proven to naturally boost testosterone.
The device is currently pending FDA approval.
